We have heard that there are only two primary emotions —love and fear—and everything we do or feel is rooted in one or the other. Growth and discovery always involves risk and fear. So, we simply must learn how to cope with fear when it appears and to disengage it before it settles into a more serious form of worry.

Times of surrender challenge and confront us, especially when we must let go of one we love. In my case, I lost my sweet, loving and devoted 4-year-old dog, Lourenco, after only 19 months together. God knows how I loved that boy and how I miss him even now. Yet, while hard to fathom in the midst of grieving our losses we find solace in knowing that new life follows death and release. We only need look to our natural cycles of the seasons as the cold barren winter leads to the new growth of spring. May you find peace through your own surrender trusting that all will be well.
